How come I control my dreams? I’m usually half awake/asleep. It’s like i’m living inside my head.?

June 72010

Example:My mom tells me get up it’s time to go to school in my head i see myself getting up and going to the bathroom to take a shower, but in reality i’m actually laying in bed. She says come down I say okay and imagine myself getting out of bed, but in reality i’m still laying down. Why am i like this? I always imagine myself doing something in my thoughts and dreams, but i’m never actually doing it?

Actually, it doesn’t sound like you’re in control of much at all. You’re not really making any effort to snap yourself awake. You need to shake off that warm sleepy feeling then swing your legs over to the side of the bed and actually get up.

Have you ever had a dream while half asleep and half awake. What is it like?

Wnat are the images like? Have you starting dreaming before you are fully asleep.

Awake and Asleep. Do you have a different life in the dream world compared to the real (physical) world?

May 292010

You may not realise it… but you spend a third of your life roughly in the dream world… when you are asleep.

The Parallel universe?
… where anything is possible?
Maybe you are the real you when you are asleep.
Nothing to hold you back..
Nothing to stop you from achieving anything…
Except by the limits of your own imagination.

What happens when you have no more wants?
… and have achieved all your goals.
…done everything you want to do.
is this what they call satisfaction?
is this what they mean by satisfaction = happiness?
Or does it simply mean boredom?
Having reached the limits of your imagination.

How does dreaming broaden our imagination?
Taking ideas from a world without limits…
… and molding them around whats possible and whats not possible in the real world.

When we dream… do we have control of whats to happen? Or is it just us watching ourselves in third person perspective.

How come we never dream that we are someone else? We always dream as ourselves. Never as anybody else.

Can we dream of something we haven’t imagined?

Im going down a road where I don’t know where it leads..
So im going to stop. Turn back before I get lost deeper and deeper into tought.

Good night.

If your dreams were consistent, you might say you were living a different life, although not a physical one. You’d have to "pick up where you left off" when you slept so that you could be living a constant existence, like when we’re awake.

But most of the time, when we dream, we are just mentally experiencing miscellaneous scenes.

I dream 99% of the time and remember my dreams. They never are strung together into one long "parallel life experience."

This is a very interesting topic.

It’s 4am my mind is awake but my body is asleep

Sorry if this is low. My roommate brought me back a lovely little cold from India and my breathing is rough. This is just me talking about my day and my thoughts in general.

How do you fall asleep if you feel perfectly awake and not tired?

May 272010

I’d rather go to bed than loll about on my computer, but I can’t fall asleep.
I’m not tired at all :(

Try this after going to bed:

Count from 300 down to -0- silently in your head, by threes. Example: 300, 297, 294, 291, etc. This occupies your mind on nothing but the counting and you are able to drift off to sleep.

If you get to -0- and are still awake, do it again. I’ve never made it through twice without falling asleep.

how come this happens when im half asleep half awake?

May 232010

when im just about to fall asleep im kind of dreaming but im still awake, i was dreaming/imagining that i was walking in a room but all of a sudden…..SMACK! i smacked into a wall or the corner of a wall. i actually heard something like a bang on the wall and my body jerked and i got scared that i actually was sleepwalking and bumped into a wall but i was still in my bed. how could i have seen, felt, and heard me smacking into a wall when nothing actually happened?

Imagination is a powerful thing, and people often mix up real life with…what would you call it, the life in your dreams. Sometimes we can really think they are real but they aren’t. Other times, they are in our dream (e.g, kicking) and then we actually do it (we are sleeping, and then we kick)

I have asked people questions, and it seems quite common that people imagine themselves kicking or doing some kind of movement in their sleep, and do it in real life as well. Some people also wake up doing it, or they jerk and then wake up.
