Before I go to bed, I am not tired (awake) and it is difficult to fall asleep. When I slept about 10 hours I can hardly stand up. I don’t feel awake. Sleeping makes me tired. I feel pooped out. It doesn’t matter how long I sleep. I can sleep 4 hours or 12, I am always tired after sleeping. My parents and I have the same problem. We are scared of sleeping pills. Bad side effects, dangerous and risk of dependency. Our family physician did a blood test. We are healthy. He just told us to go to bed at 9 PM. That did not help.
Is the atmosphere the reason? Does anybody have the same problem? What could we do?
Start getting up every morning by 6 or 7 AM. Start the day with a brisk 30-40 minute walk outside in the sunlight to help set your biological clock. You body knows that is it morning now and time to go.
No naps, now carry on the routine of your regular day. Have dinner before 7. Take a nice slow walk, a nice warm shower, settle down watch some TV, go to bed around 10 or 11.
If you can, before dinner, squeeze in a good workout at the gym – some cardio and weight lifting.
Do this every day, in a few weeks, you will be falling asleep.
